Today almost all people can wear lenses, regardless of age or lifestyle.
Quality contact lenses are asolutely safe and comfortable to wear. However, there are a number of contraindications for wearing contact lenses:

  1. You suffer from conjunctivitis – Conjunctivitis is a transparent membrane inflammation  that covers the eye and the inside of the eyelid. This is curable and the duration of treatment differs depending on the severity. Wearing contact lenses during treatment is contraindicated. They can be worn again after the conjunctivitis is healed.
  2. You suffer from dry eye syndrome – Dry eye syndrome is a condition that occurs as a result of insufficient lubrication in the eyes. Sometimes the cause might be the improper use of contact lenses. This condition is treated with artificial tears. During treatment, wearing contact lenses is contraindicated.
  3. Your diopters exceed the range standard of –35 and +35. There are no lenses that correct vision conditions with diopters exceeding the range of –35 and +35.
  4. You are working in an environment with dust or toxic substances – there is a risk that these irritants can deposit on the lens very easily and cause severe eye irritation.
  5. You are allergic to disinfectants – Lenses must be cleaned and disinfected constantly with special solutions. People allergic to disinfectants will certainly be allergic to these solutions as well. For this reason, it is not recommended for them to wear contact lenses, apart from the daily ones that must be thrown away at the end of the day.

6. You suffer from strabismus (when the angle of curvature exceeds 15 °).

7. You have low corneal sensitivity.

8. You suffer from eyelid infections: blepharitis, chalazion, conjunctivitis, corneal keratitis.

9. You suffer from abnormalities in the position of the eyelids, exophthalmos, lacrimation, permeability disorders of the tear ducts.

10. You suffer from AIDS, tuberculosis.

11. If you suffer from diabetes consult your doctor.

12. You administer certain drugs from the series of antihistamines, decongestants, diuretics, tranquilizers, etc. which can cause dry eyes, consult your doctor in this case.

13. During viral infections, high fever, or eye infections of any origin, the wearing of lenses is suspended until complete recovery.

WARNING!

Children under the age of 8 are not allowed to wear contact lenses. The minimum age recommended by doctors for wearing contact lenses is 14 years. What matters as a deciding factor is not age, but the level of responsibility the child is capable to assume.
